Godlike 'Homo Deus' Could Replace Humans as Tech Evolves - Will they keep us around to tend the zoo?

““We’ve seen an amazing development in computer intelligence, but exactly zero development in computer consciousness,” Harari said. Part of the problem is that we often confuse intelligence, which he defines as the ability to solve problems, with consciousness — the ability to feel. Yet, he said, we may one day find a way around this divide, eventually reaching a state of “super-intelligence.”

Not surprisingly, the schemes for enhancing human intelligence seem to be coming from Silicon Valley. "

If Homo Deus takes over we are better off as bartenders than Zoo tenders. There cannot be any bartenders better than good human bartenders.

One of the most approachable and sensory enhanced Homo Deuses if ever I did see one. The only problem being before you got off 2 sentences all the following conversation would be totally predictable to him. There will be one good way to freak Homo Deuses out. Do like Kevin Spacey in “The Usual Suspects” as “Keyser Söze” and create “you” on the fly using whatever random bits and pieces of weaving material you find around you. Then the Homo Deus is helpless to figure out what the hell you will say next.

Can’t say we did not tell you so.
